Sand school and stable block, Newdigate, Surrey

This equestrian project was undertaken for our client in Newdigate Surrey. We constructed and completed all the groundworks and drainage for their stable block, which comprised of three stables, tack room and hay and carriage store, as well as a large 50m x 20m sand school.

We ensured a solid flat, perfectly level concrete base which is essential for increasing the lifespan of the stable block. The entire stable yard was made up of 300mm crushed concrete and finished with 150mm C40 ready-mix concrete. The C40 mix was chosen as it is ideal for use in stable construction as it is highly durable and horse urine can weaken some types of concrete over time.

For the sand school surface, we used a topping of high-quality specialist PVC and elasticated fibres. This material makes a highly versatile all-weather surface that is easy to maintain. The fibres can be beneficial in drier areas as they retain the surfaces moisture content.

We were hired for our experienced, horse-friendly workforce, and specialist equipment necessary to construct the concrete base for a successful stable block.
