Rearing shed, the Wotton Estate, Forest Green, Surrey

A farm on the Wotton estate in Forest Green, Surrey had an old milking parlour which was not fit for purpose for a modern working farm so permission was granted to demolish it and replace it with a modern, steel framed, rearing shed.

The old milking parlour and existing yard were removed with the old concrete crushed on site and recycled to create a 300 mm base for the new yard and shed. This base was finished with 150 mm of concrete incorporating a reinforced steel mesh for strength and durability. The 100 x 50 foot steel framed shed was erected and finished with steel gutters, a fibre cement roof and the sides consisted of 150 mm concrete panels with Yorkshire boarding.

The surrounding area around the agricultural rearing shed was levelled and resurfaced with concrete which was cambered to improve water runoff away from the shed and animals.
